|11:54 am - I'm Coming Out!|
As a Supernatural fan.
I considered it a guilty pleasure, and I felt sort of ashamed for liking it so much, in the way that you wouldn't actually tell anyone in real life that you watched it.
But the second season has been much better than the first season in terms of most everything, and it's continuing to draw on its own mythology and worldbuilding and continuity to propel the story forward. I look forward to it every week, not least because of the incredibly awesome promos that are among the best I've ever seen. And I started a sort of tradition of eating ice cream while I watched it, which I used to do with BSG on Fridays and I still do with Heroes on Mondays.
And then last night's episode, which managed to be funnier than The Office, which was funny as hell as per usual, just pushed me over the top. Because I could tell that everyone involved in making the show loves the show and they have fun and I respect that, the obvious thought and sentiment that goes into the work. And a show like that? Deserves to have my unabashed, undiluted love. I don't promise flail and squee or anything, but a healthy appreciation unburdened by bias and preconceptions and bolstered by higher expectations.
So, Supernatural, you have won me over. I would not even be averse to purchasing your DVDs at some point, as the extras and packaging look worthwhile.
I love Supernatural. This is going to take some getting used to.
Current Mood: dorky
Current Music: Cave In - The Callus
YAY! for unabashed, undiluted love!!!!
And don't worry, I (and about 1,723,486 others) will be more than glad to continue bearing the brunt of the flail/squee fandom quota.
(Seriously, this makes me SO happy. You know how you feel when someone caves in to complete Avatar love? It's kind of like that. When you love something this much, and it gives you this kind of joy and entertainment, you want everyone to be able to experience the same thing.)
I know! I figured this was coming when I started wanting actual SPN icons instead of my two silly Alona Tal icons.
I thought it would make certain people happy, which is why I decided to just post it. Because that episode was just...DAMN. I couldn't not love it after that. It's the new X-Files and they know it.

Hee. I watched during the first season. But, it was kind of a guilty pleasure. I liked the mythology and the boys were cute, but they said the cheesiest stuff to one another. And they would stop, while being chased by an angry ghost, to talk about their feelings every five minutes. I felt like I laughed more at lines that were supposed to be sincere than I did at the ones that were actually supposed to be funny.
That being said, it was fun to watch. And everyone has being going ape shit over the second season, so I will eventually need to catch up.
Yeah, the first season is like, "We're going to be a show about monsters being hunted by characters."
The second season is, "We're going to be a show about characters who hunt monsters."
I was ragging on the constant talking about feelings when I started watching the second season, too. But I got used to it as part of the show, and I sort of liked it eventually just because, well, that's what this show does. I like brotherly relationships.
But, Sunil, you have not answered the most important SPN question- Dean or Sammy?

I LOVE Supernatural!! I discovered it after S1 had already finished, but I got the DVD's for Christmas and I've gotten a lot of use out of them. The show is so great to watch because while it has some common themes between episodes, each episode covers something new. It's continually changing and getting more addicting!
Yeah, they're always trying something new and pulling from different lore and mythology and stuff!

I have always been out about it, but I confess to blaming my love on the HOTNESS and on my enjoyment of bad teenagy-shows. Maybe I'll have to stop claiming it's so bad it's good to my rl friends, and ease up on the "but they're HOT!"
Last night was FUN.
Hee. Maybe! I mean, I don't even care about the hotness except for the hotness of Whoever Dean's Hitting on This Week.
Last night was FUN-ENOMENAL.
OMG I JUST MADE UP THE BEST WORD.

Oh this is such wonderful news. Now all the Supernatural fans everywhere can enjoy reading spectacular Supernatural recaps/thoughts from the great spectralbovine
. Because there will be recaps/thoughts forthcoming now, right, huh, right?
Your sarcasm is not appreciated.
Noooo, I keep hearing about them! I'll have to watch them later; thanks for the link.

Arg. Would Itunes upload the latest episode already! So I can get to the watching!
The last three episodes I've seen have been pretty good (even the mostlyboring Catholic priest one was at least decent). I think Night Shifter and Born Under a Bad Sign were the best episodes I've seen of this show (I still have the last two of season one to watch and two random ones from season two). So, if this one was really good too, then the show is definitely hitting a stride.
I'm still trying to get over the 10 minute night, the invisible demons beaten by a FLARE, racist trucks, and the blatant LIE of "no chick flick moments." Maybe once I get back to the current episodes in my marathoning I'll be more on board with absolute Supernatural love. Or maybe these next two episodes (1.21 and 1.22) will have me sold.
Whoa, dude, that's what you have left? Yeah, those two episodes kick ass. They'll help sell you. All sorts of family drama and angst and demons and vampires and showdowns and pain. The show is definitely hitting a stride right now; you're right. A lot of very good episodes in a row. And the next episode has Tricia Helfer! Who you would hardly recognize as Tricia Helfer unless they told you because she is just that good.
The ten-minute night is regrettable, indeed. And what were the invisible...oh yeah! Because they exist in the shadows, so you have blinding light that erases all shadows, and they go away! It makes perfect sense, Sarah! RUN WITH IT.
The weird thing about finally loving a show is that you retroactively like everything else more. Like, I'm suddenly defensive of shit. And the show entire.
AWESOME! Supernatural and Veronica Mars are my two main fandoms, and I absolutely love SPN. I think it's a wonderful show and everyone involved works so hard on it.
Glad you like it!

you know my story. didn't start loving it until the second season. though Dean is the superior character. i started watching the show for JP, but have grown more in love with JA. funny how that works.
if you watched the ep last night and you didn't laugh, i don't think you're human. period.
I'm pretty much of the same opinion! Although, then, what does that make serenada
I started watching the show for Alona Tal, but then she was barely in it.
