|04:02 pm - Whedonesque 2: This Time It's Not Whedonesque 1|
I'm sure you've all seen Joss's fanboy squee over Veronica Mars by now, but I'm reposting it because A) I had to use that subject line and B) you just might have missed it the first fifty times you saw it on your flist. Besides, dtissagirl wants everyone on her flist to post it, and even though I'm not on her flist, she's on mine, so it...it made sense in my head, I swear.
Joss Luvs Veronica.
This is my attempt at posting my own thread. My peeps and I just finished a crazed Veronica Marsathon, and I can no longer restrain myself. Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I've never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn't making, and maybe even more than those. Crazy crisp dialogue. Incredibly tight plotting. Big emotion, I mean BIG, and charsimatic actors and I was just DYING from the mystery and the relationships and PAIN, this show knows from pain and no, I don't care, laugh all you want, I had to share this. These guys know what they're doing on a level that intimidates me. It's the Harry Potter of shows. There. I said it. People should do whatever they can to check out this first season so the second won't be a spoiler fest. I'm nutty.
I'm a little calmer now. Oh God, no I'm not! Wait. Wait. Okay. Some of you may already be all up on this, and some may disagree, but I'm urging peeps to check it out, 'cause there is great TV afoot, and who doesn't want that? Thank you for your time.
Still not calm! Wait... wait...
I e-mailed Rob, who said it made his day. He's very eager to watch Buffy S2 now, which has been sitting in his Netflix queue for a week.
So, I'm back. And you guys posted like a thousand times while I was gone. With my intermittent Internet access, I was able to skim most of them and comment on a few, but if there's a post I appear to have missed, feel free to bring it to my attention! Tell me what I missed over the last ten days!
Big thanks to raelee and nsfinch for transcribing my PhonePosts. I'm going to give that last one a shot after this.
BSG GOOD. HITLER BAD. SHERBERT NEUTRAL. For better BSG thoughts, check out wisteria_, who also does fun screencap reviews.
Finally, I might as well stick in that one meme that was going around back in the day: tell me your first impression of me, and how it may or may not have changed. You may be anonymous if you wish.

Oh good, I was hoping that Rob would find out and decide he just had to watch BtVS, now. =)
When Joss mentioned he had watched the pilot and loved it, I told Rob, and he promised to watch Buffy. That must have been about a week ago, so it looks like he did actually add the DVDs to his Netflix queue at the time.

Yeah, I just figured that maybe if Rob found out that Joss was raving about VM that he'd feel honor-bound to watch at least S2 of Buffy. And once he watches S2, he'll definitely want to watch more. It'll do my heart good to watch the mutual fanboying. I wonder how it is that Rob never ended up with a spec on Joss's desk all those years between his failed DEK series and VM...
The fact that you talk to Rob Thomas and refer to him simply as "Rob" is so effing hot.
He and the Whedonverse people are just like that, really. They're so close with the fans, it's only natural. Joss, Tim, Jane, Doug, Drew. Rob. J.J. seems like that as well. But, I mean, you don't think of Chris Carter or David E. Kelly or Aaron Sorkin as Chris or David or Aaron.
Actually I think of Chris Carter as DudeWhoFucksUpArcs. We're really close.

2. Grammar bitch.
My computer had some checksum error when it booted up for no apparent reason. Then Windows took forever to load and thought it was October 2002. I have no idea what happened but hope it's just a temporary bug that will not present itself on the next reboot.
Oh, eeek! Hope it's not too bad.
Checksum errors and the clock losing time isn't -that- bad. It probably means that the battery on your CMOS chip is losing charge. Replacements go from about 10-20 dollars, depending on make and model, but they aren't that hard to replace once you open it up.
Welcome back! The Joss post at Whedonesque was a highlight.
As for me, I discussed music, pop culture and personal stuff (quelle surprise!) over the past week or so. However, if you like Gilmore Girls
and read fanfic, let me recommend this: click for fanfic link
I MISSED YOU, MISTER COW.
Topic, memelike: I thought you were extremely enthusiastic, and possibly scary because I'm very timid. I have learned that the initial impression has borne itself out, except there was no need to be scared.

Whew. You're home! No more 5 minute long phone posts. Errmm, I mean, Welcome Home!
Can't complain about seeing Joss VM Luv post again. It continues to make my lil' fangirl heart flutter. Especially now that you've shared Joss' gushing with Rob.
First impression answer: I had seen comments from you previously but the first memory of you that sticks out in my mind is of you saying "You're welcome" to a general "thank you" post of cadhla
's. It left me with the impression that you were amusing and he of quick wit. Now you're other things too but the first impression remains valid.

I probably noticed whatever t-shirt you were wearing, and that you were an English major.
Otherwise, I think I was scared to death of you until Ravi brought you over to hang out with me one time when Emily wasn't around. Then I discovered that you knew way, way more about Christopher Pike than I did, because I don't know anything.
I don't usually know which shirts you wear these days, although I guess I could speculate about it. But you're still an English major. Not everything changes. (;
I'm wearing my Butter Battle shirt right now!! *hugs*
My first impression of you was that you were quiet. That impression has since changed :)
You were probably only quiet at the time because we were listening to Ronnie sing and you were probably tired anyway. My second impression of you, after hearing you chat about pop culture something, was, "hmm, we have a few things in common..."
And the rest is history.
I honestly hadn't seen the Joss squee yet. I *am* three days behind on my flist, so when I catch up I'll probably see it everywhere. But thanks for posting, that is soooooo cool.
First impression? Um... You seemed very confident and intelligent. And my impression has not changed. :)
My first impression of you was when you commented on my Hush post, and you said something really funny about Willow's death by music, and about teaching, and I thought you were a mid-thirties female college professor.
That's a new one.
Not the female part, cause, like, everyone does that.
Not the mid-thirties part, cause people sometimes think I'm old.
But the college professor thing is new, I think. It was a teaching class, Tris. I said teaching class. Also, I didn't say anything about Willow's death by music. I don't even know what you're talking about. You probably made that up.
Oh, I see! It was in my response to your comment. Death-by-CD.
Well, for all I knew, you taught a teaching class. I mean, classes do have teachers.
Everything I posted while you were gone was of vital importance. I metaed about BSG *and* about Firefly. I...forget what else I did that I don't remember you commenting on. But I'm sure that was all very crucial, too.
I read all you posted. Your angst is important to me.
One of my favorite Radiohead songs. The icon captures the free-flow feel of the lyrics in the song.

Re: Nice icon.
Thanks. It's actually from the old official site; they had lyric images like that for every song from OK Computer, so all I really did was crop it. What sucks, though, is that those images seem to have disappeared from off the web. Very sad, as I didn't save them.
tell me your first impression of me, and how it may or may not have changed.
Hm. I thought you were a girl and that you were pretty funny and creative(Don't worry about the girl part; at that time I thought that about everyone on the VM MMM was female. I have a tendency to see myself in others.). I then noticed you are a guy, but the "funny and creative" part still holds true.
