01:57 pm - Live Alone, Die Together
FOUR DAYS UNTIL THE LOST FINALE YOU GUYS.

Have you seen io9's round-up of the casting tapes?? So cool! Matthew Fox and Jorge Garcia make surprisingly good Sawyers. Dominic Monaghan, not so much. And I'm sad to say that Evangeline Lilly's Kate audition actually is better than Yunjin Kim's, but I'm glad they created Sun for her.

Have you seen Jezebel's music video of All the People Who Died? Six years of deaths in six minutes (from the pilot through last week's episode, before we found out What They Died For last night). Good times, good times.

Have you seen EW's Totally Lost featuring Doc Jensen, Dan Snierson, and...Jacob the Intern? It's hilarious.

You guys! I don't have the time and energy to do a true retrospective like toastandtea, but...Lost!! Six years! I watched from the pilot! The ride is finally coming to an end, and, well, I'm okay with that because they've been building up to this deliberately for the last three years, and I respect that. I will admit that this season hasn't been as totally awesome as the last two, but I still love the show and all the discussion it incites. Not to mention the hilarity. Pop culture phenomenon, and all that.

Anyway, I just wanted a space for everyone to share their favorite Lost memories, either from the show or related to the fandom or cast or media or whatever. This is not a place to be bitter or angry about killing off characters or not answering questions. This is a place to revel in the Lost experience. Remember that one episode that started with an eye shot?? You know, like that.

COMMENCE LOST SQUEE PARTY OMG.

Okay okay I will take some time out of my Lost hating ways to remember the good times...mmm I remember season 1 with everyone just trying to survive on the island and playing golf to relieve stress and the great horror aspect to it and this is coming from someone who doesn't like horror. S1 was fun. Oh yeah and WTFPOLARBEAR?!

Lost: single-handedly making polar bears cool since 2004.

Butting in to say: YES. Combined with the revelation that Kate was the criminal, early season one blew my mind a lot. But yeah, the end of Walkabout, i think that's how Lost went from "great" to "AMAZING".

Oh, the halcyon days of season one, when surprises were around every corner!

That was so HOLY CRAP WHAT. I remember watching that episode with my BFF. And just recently I read that when they shot the pilot, they didn't know that about Locke. Oh, television storytelling.

I had seen some of the audition tapes before, i think on the season one dvds maybe? They're so weird! And speaking of the dvds, i am feeling a need to bust out season 1 and 2 (the only ones i own!) and watch all the extras. I remember really loving the making of the pilot. JJ!

I've been seeing screencaps of Totally Lost all over tumblr and i kept meaning to set aside time to watch the clips, but hadn't until just now. HOLY CRAP, BEST EVER. Those make me love "Across the Sea" and Jacob/MIB like a billion times more!

I will admit that this season hasn't been as totally awesome as the last two

BLASPHEMY!!!!!! Okay season 5 is still my favorite, but this one has just been awesome in different ways.

SIX YEEEEEEEEARS. I'll miss the season finales most of all, that fever pitch of WTFery was always my favorite. I can tell you in all honesty that i am probably going to be certifiably insane come Sunday night. Yikes.

JJ!
JJ! I was looking at the fall schedule and was like, there's no way I'm not watching Undercovers, right?

Do you know how badly I want to counsel you right now?

BLASPHEMY!!!!!! Okay season 5 is still my favorite, but this one has just been awesome in different ways.
I think season 4 is my favorite, despite my love of time travel mayhem. I love the way season 4 played with the narrative by telling us the ending right up front. And this one has been awesome in different ways, for sure, but, you know, collective bitterness gets to me.

Right?? REMEMBER THAT TIME THE GODDAMN ISLAND DISAPPEARED????????

I know! Even though hearing about it just makes me think of Alias and how much i don't need another spy show, i always end up doggedly following anything JJ does.

There's collective bitterness??? D: I mean i do feel kind of lonely like i'm the only person REALLY STUPID EXCITED ABOUT EVERY GODDAMN THING (i suppose it doesn't help that i am not really a part of fandom, and LJ is a lot quieter now than it used to be, and i don't even really have many Lost fans friended), but... bitterness? Ugh. The universe needs to quit harshing my buzz.

REMEMBER WHEN DESMOND FOUND OUT HE CRASHED THEIR PLANE?????? The season 2 finale seems so tame now, but at the time my mind was blown all over the place.

Maybe it's only a couple vocal people I know. But I think I've heard a fair number of complaints here and there. I don't like this quiet LJ business. I miss the days of LJ squee.

The universe needs to quit harshing my buzz.
I agree!

That was nuts! That was also the finale with the random FOUR-TOED STATUE. Remember how like no one bothered to explain that for, oh, three years?

Hey, look at what I said after the season one finale:

So I thought it was great, and I'm tired of everyone whining and bitching about not getting answers, because I never even notice whether or not things are answered or not; I'm enjoying the fucking ride. I ask for entertainment and plot advancement, and I got it. It's not the destination that matters but the journey, and I'm having a hell of a lot of fun on this journey.

Quiet LJ sucks. This used to be a happening place! IT FEELS SO SAD NOW.

LOL four-toed statue. That was one of the most random things ever! And now we know what it is! SO CRAZY

Oh man your s1 finale thoughts are exactly my thoughts on ALL OF LOST. EXACTLY. And it is fucking hilarious that everybody was complaining about wanting answers in season one. LOL. Look at us now!

Oh, man.

Hurley telling Claire that Charlie was dead. ::sniffle::

The scene where Bernard and Rose, as well as Jin and Sun, were reunited. Wow, did I cry.

Ben, while still being held captive in the Hatch (he was probably still going by "Henry" then), eating cereal and saying how, if he really *was* an Other, he'd draw a map to the alleged crashed balloon that led to a trap, etc., etc., and ended his mindfuck with "...good thing I'm not one of them, huh?"

And OMGWTFPOLARBEAR goes without saying.

I hated Charlie so much that season, and yet he won me back just in time for him to die.

SO MUCH WIN.

My fanaticism for the show has dropped DRASTICALLY last/this season. I know none of the questions I want to have answered will be, since it seems like they're bypassing a lot of the awesome season 2-3 plotlines like Walt's "powers," pregnant women dying, WHO EXACTLY ARE THE OTHERS, thing in favor of the whole good vs. evil thing. I'm kind of bummed out that it's turned into something more philosophical than straight up sci-fi/fantasy, but I'm ready to see how it ends. And then re-watch everything to see if it makes any sense.

That's kind of how I feel, too. I'm wondering if there really are so many unanswered questions, or if I just missed/forgot the answers to them in all of the craziness. I think I'll rewatch it all at some point too.

The first five minutes of S2. First season we were all like what's in the hatch what's in the hatch and between the seasons we were like jebus seriously what is in the hatch and then the teaser of the season premiere was like: Hey, check it out, here's a guy you've never seen before, he's working out and listening to Mama Cass on a record player, it kinda looks like a '70s flashback, isn't it mysteeeeri-- HE LIVES IN THE HATCH, THAT'S WHAT'S IN THE HATCH, A DUDE LIVES IN IT

And I went, yeah, I'm on board.

What else? Finding out Sun spoke English. Everything Juliet did, ever. Ilana letting Ben come back to the Good Guys Team. Sawyer and Miles: Buddy Cops.

The tertiary characters who kept getting killed right after questioning the premise of the show. (I was afraid Miles might join this party last year when he kept bringing up inconvenient issues...)

Sawyer's glasses, incl. Jack being a dick to Sawyer, just for fun, and asking him questions about his sexual history before diagnosing his farsightedness, and Sayid making him glasses because he's sorry about torturing him.

Oh, I see from Lostpedia that the hatch scene wasn't actually the teaser, the beginning of the episode is some bullshit with Jack fixing people or whatever. ...My point still stands.
