Evil pizza

Hey, guys, remember this post, six months ago? It's been a time, eh? Here are some stats:

The approximate amount of money I have spent in order to do this half-marathon, including fees, shoes, clothing, miscellaneous equipment, gels, doctor's appointments due to injuries, and transportation to training sites: over $400
The amount of money I have raised for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation: $3,265
The number of people who donated: 91

And I don't even know some of those people. I don't recognize some of the names! Thank you, known entities and lurkers alike! I could not have done it without you. The financial support was doubly beneficial, both for my goal and for people with AIDS, but the emotional support was, as they say, priceless. Because of you all, I overcame numb feet, shin splints, and incredible knee pain. This past Sunday, I made it through eight miles on a bad knee, utterly determined not to sit this race out. It turns out my body is generally stupid but can be pretty amazing at times, too.

This Sunday, July 29, I will be running the first half of the San Francisco Marathon. I expect to take off at around 6:10 A.M (PST) and be finished around 9:15 A.M. (PST) My route will take me down the Embarcadero, into the Presidio, across the Golden Gate Bridge and into Marin, back across the Golden Gate Bridge and through the Presidio, and finally into Golden Gate Park.

I really don't know how many of you will be awake during those hours, but if all goes well, I will be PhonePosting my progress. I want to share the experience with you. So when you see ten PhonePosts on your flist, all in a row, please take the time to listen and cheer me on. This is your race as much as it is mine.

No, I've changed my mind. It's totally my race! I'm the one who's going to be in pain the whole time. The least you could do is listen to me complain about it!
