When Polter-Cows Attack!

Cowpocalypse Now

Hello, and welcome to my foray into the world of LiveJournal. Some of you may be familiar with me through other outlets, and some of you may not. Regardless, this journal does have a Primary Purpose.

You see, up until December 13, 2004, I was on track to get a Ph.D. in pharmacology. When I say "on track," I mean there was a track, and I was on it. But I wasn't on it, if you get my drift. And my mentors saw this, as four of them would not allow me to join their labs (one hardly ever saw me enough to notice).

So I decided to drop the act and get a Master's, which is what I'm doing right now. I never wanted to spend the rest of my life in a lab, and now I don't have to. I'm going to become a science writer, bridging the gap between technobabble and netspeak. I alone will stand against the acronyms, the jargon, and the forces of vagueness.

To that end, I have started a blog. I will use this blog to practice my art, to communicate to the general public the scientific goings-on of today, and to imbue them with my own love of and fascination with science. Granted, with my background, I will be leaning heavily towards the biosciences.

This journal is a way to promote that blog and help readers keep up with updates. Because I plan to develop it into a credential worthy of putting on my résumé, I ask that, if you wish to do so, you leave comments about blog entries on the blog rather than here. I'd like to show potential employers I am effective at reaching an audience.

But because I do love having an audience and I am a total whore, I expect this journal to turn into more than simply a blog-promoting device. As I become more comfortable here, I may post more personal writing. I may also post movie reviews, song parodies, and embarrassing stories about your childhood.

So whether you're excited to read about science or just relieved to find someone else who's literate, welcome.
