|06:11 pm - The Fifth of Many Pimpings|
Long-time readers may know that the original purpose for this journal, before it became my fandom journal, was to pimp Protein Angst. Well, after over four months of laziness, I tell you a story of why science is awesome. It involves potassium channels, T cells, and autoimmune disorders. And a surprise guest star.
Let the pimping commence!
hobviously has some great BSG icons, including a series I inspired with a screencap and a Shakespeare line.
the_royal_anna has a lovely post about Doctor Who and the relationship between the Doctor and Rose.
spectralbovine (hey, that's me!) has posted a metric fuckload of Canadian music at audiography, for those of you who missed it the first time.
valancy (a.k.a. Miss Fancy Valancy (tm starspentswell)) has a multifandom post with icon and fic recs. Warning, the post contains HPB SPOILERS, so if you haven't read the book, go directly to her journal and don't click the cut-tag.
persnicketiervm tells us about the time Kristen Bell sent her a birthday gift, complete with pictures.
matchboxslayer tells us about the time he met Kristen Bell and she didn't punch him in the face.
horsefacehannah would like to know, "What's the most violent PG/PG13 movie you can think of?"
wisteria_ has an updated Veronica Mars: A Love Letter.
In conclusion, Kevin Kline.

Then one day he comes across an article in The Lancet from, like, 1983. This woman with multiple sclerosis was stung by a scorpion. And for about a day, she was kind of sick and all from being stung by a scorpion.
But then? Her multiple sclerosis symptoms went away. For two whole months, she was symptom-free. Or maybe it was two whole weeks. Then her symptoms came back, however.
Yeah, my Dad has multiple sclerosis (secondary progressive, he's basically quadriplegic at this point) and years ago someone suggested we get a whole mass of bees and sting him with them every day. If boggarts were real, do you know what mine would be? It'd be a great big mass of SWARMING BEES.
I liked the marijuana suggestion much better.
It seems most of the really good news for MS is more about stopping the disease from getting bad than being able to help those who are already in bad shape. Bad news for my Dad, but it makes me less scared for myself and my brother (because we have a slightly upped chance- my father's sister has it as well, though not as bad as he does.)
Hey, would you mind leaving this comment on the blog post? I have the blog on my résumé and I'd like to make it look like people actually read it and get something out of it. Thanks.
I'm sorry about your dad, and I hope you're safe!
Thanks. It's been like, almost my whole life, so it's what's normal to me. I used to forget to tell friends before they came over to my house. Oops.
