|06:18 pm - Things We Received in the Mail|
Since there was quite a lot of response to my post about returning a woman's lost book, I thought I would post the lovely thank-you note I just received from her.
You have been extremely kind and generous to return my lost book. I can't thank you enough for being so very thoughtful.I'm glad to know I did the right thing.
When I discovered it missing, the plane's cabin door was closing and I had no chance to retrieve my wonderful book. I was looking forward to finishing it on the long flight home.
Now I am at leisure to read and enjoy its ending. Many thanks to you! You give hope and evidence that there are many kind people in our crazy world. I promise to "pay it forward" for another in need.

Aw, that is very sweet. Maybe it's my hormones, but I'm totally teary. :)
That's adorable. Way to be.
awww. You should also add your "i am so awesome" tag to this post.
I was waiting for someone to demand that before I did it out of self-aggrandizement.

Awww! That's awesome you did that for her! And even more so because it turned out it meant so much to her. Way to make a good decision there!
I know! I'm really glad it did mean a lot to her and she wasn't all, "Eh, I forgot my book, and I could have lived a long and healthy life without it, but thanks, I guess."
Ohhh! So nice to receive a thank you note and also know she's going to 'pay it forward'! (I fucking hated that movie though). Always great to hear!

nice capstone to the story
the gracious thank you is a bit of a lost art...especially with the ease of electronic communication these days, you don't have to make a letter worth the stamp it's going to cost you to send. You did A Good Thing, and that's a great response from her end,too...
Re: nice capstone to the story
This is why I used my own return address even though I was sending the package from Arlington. Just in case she wanted to send a note.
That was a good thing you did there.
(One question: how does toothpaste enter into this?)
I actually did click on the tag link, but I couldn't figure out what the connection was between the various posts. The first one was just sort of a non sequitur random thought post, so I'm like, "Is that his tag for random navel-gazing?" But that did not fit the other data points.
With the newly-added TWOP context, I now see that it's your tag for stuff that you're not quite sure why anybody would care to read. (Right?) Which still doesn't quite explain its presence here, since it's not nearly as boring as a discussion of toothpaste.
It is a tag for posts that do not take a lot of time to write and whose primary or secondary purpose is to get comments since I haven't posted in a while. Also, miniglik
asked for it.
Awww, way to go! That's a great story and WAY TO DO A GOOD THING, YOUNG CITIZEN! :D
