It's that time again! The television season is ending, and we anxiously await the fates of our favorite series, wondering who will be back next year. And reevaluating how much we care. I was going to wait a week to do this, until all my finales had aired, but the only shows whose finales would have really affected how much (more) I want them back have passed.

Chuck: This show really won my heart in the long run. I thought it was great fun, but I wouldn't necessarily miss it terribly, and then it got even better. The finale was indeed a game-changer, but I'm not quite sure I like how the game changed. That being said, I still believe the game will be as awesome and fun as it has always been, but I'm not burning down my living room, Mr. Schwartz Fedak.
How Much I Want It Back: 8.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 10, as this is the bubble show that has the greatest chance of actually surviving. COME ON, NBC.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 80.

How I Met Your Mother: Sure, there's been little plot momentum this season, but it's still hilarious, and I love my half hour a week with the characters.
How Much I Want It Back: 7.5.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0. It's a sure thing.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 0.

Heroes: The show kind of got back on track at the end, but I don't think I care anymore. It's not a zeitgeist show like it used to be, and the only character I still really love and want to watch is Noah Bennet. I am mildly intrigued by the story the finale set up, but...I think I might want to make room for newer, better shows?
How Much I Want It Back: 4.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: -10. It's already been renewed.
Upfront Stress Quotient: N/A.

Reaper: The second season has been a definite improvement over the first season with more focus on the arcs and more creativity with the Soul-of-the-Week framework. And Nina is pretty! She's like a cross between Julie Benz and Sarah Paulson. So it's been an enjoyable hoot, but I'm hoping they wrap up the story and let Sam beat the Devil or something since Fazekas and Butters have already moved on, to my knowledge.
How Much I Want It Back: 5.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 3, as I don't see a way this is coming back, but I thought it was a goner this time last year too.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 15.

Fringe: This show's gotten kind of awesome. The arc is building and constantly tying into the MOTWs, and there's a lot of cool shit going down. I haven't fallen head over heels for it yet, but it could get there.
How Much I Want It Back: 7.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0, as it's already been renewed. Yay!
Upfront Stress Quotient: N/A.

Cupid: A valiant effort, but the spark just isn't there. I like it okay, I guess, but the original was just SO MUCH BETTER.
How Much I Want It Back: 2.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0, because I really don't want it back.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 0.

Lost: OMG LOST. DO I EVEN HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING?
How Much I Want It Back: 11.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0, since it was renewed two years ago.
Upfront Stress Quotient: N/A.

My Name Is Earl: One of the most underrated comedies on television. Every now and then I think about giving it up because no one else watches it, but then I watch an episode and am reminded how hilarious it is. I wouldn't be crushed if it didn't come back, though.
How Much I Want It Back: 6.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 7, as it apparently needs my help.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 42.

The Office: I can understand some of the criticisms, but I still think the show's funny, and I need my weekly dose of Pam.
How Much I Want It Back: 7.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0, as it's already been renewed.
Upfront Stress Quotient: N/A.

30 Rock: Still as wacky as ever, and my Facebook status appreciates its presence every Thursday night. I am not that emotionally attached to it, though.
How Much I Want It Back: 6.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0, as it's already been renewed.
Upfront Stress Quotient: N/A.

Supernatural: Sam and Dean! Angels and demons! Apocalypse! Lucifer! Good times, you guys.
How Much I Want It Back: 8.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 0, as it's already been renewed for the fifth and final season. Don't fuck with the story, CW. Let the show end with a proper kaboom.
Upfront Stress Quotient: N/A.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles: I think you know how I feel about this show.
How Much I Want It Back: 20.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 20.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 400.

Dollhouse: It's gotten much better and has turned into a pretty interesting and cool show in its own right, but it's no Buffy, Angel, or Firefly. Enver Gjokaj (Victor), however, is FUCKING AMAZING, and I can't wait to see what he does next. On this show or any other.
How Much I Want It Back: 7.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 8, as I'd rather have Chuck and/or SCC back.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 56.

Party Down: Oooh, you didn't even know I was watching this, did you? The pilot was merely okay, but it's gotten much funnier since then, and now I really look forward to watching each episode.
How Much I Want It Back: 7.
Amount of Psychic Love Energy Allotted: 5, as I'm pretty sure Starz is going to renew it.
Upfront Stress Quotient: 35.

And since you're here, let's have a poll!

Even though I do not watch SCC, I have given it my fifth vote because I know how much you and others would kill me if I didn't mark it love it. I've fallen behind on Heroes and Fringe and not hugely care on their renewals though I will catch up with them this summer and I know that Heroes is actually back. No saying what it'll happen when I'm in NZ. Speaking of which I read that post of yours when you met ora_wai and found the light switch thing interesting, but I don't think I ever commented on that post.

But Chuck, HIMYM, and Dollhouse need to be renewed. And Party Down, I agree, has gotten better from the start.

I have interest in five shows listed. Guess how I picked my votes!

I WISH I COULD GIVE ALL FIVE VOTES TO SCC. AND THEN 400 STRESSVOTES MORE.

I don't even watch 5 shows on the list? So I went with Dollhouse, for Joss. I will be heartbroken if Chuck and SCC don't come back. I will mope for days.

I didn't know that 30 Rock had been renewed! This makes me so happy. I can't go a day without making some type of 30 Rock quote, or singing Werewolf Bar Mitzvah.

All my stress is on Chuck and Dollhouse. The shows I want to come back are (with the exception of Reaper which is all but dead...c'mon, you can't have the show without Sock), and those that I didn't vote for, I just don't have the emotional ties to follow to a fannish degree - yet three of them, I own full (up to as far as Australia has released them) DVD runs.

But seriously, if Chuck is not renewed (as much as I want Dollhouse to get two more seasons, I have basically accepted the fact that it may not be back), I will make JUlia Nunes mad and send her to NBC to wreak holy hell.

I have given four votes to SCC (because HOMG COME BAAAAAAAAACK) and one to SPN (because even though it's already been renewed, I have more than enough residual nerves from my decade+ of having TV shows I love pulled out from under me, and paranoia voting should totally be allowed!). There was a time when I would've thrown Heroes a pity vote, but that time has long passed.

And I've never seen a single solitary episode of Chuck. *ducks*)

It's on Hulu! You should watch a single solitary episode! It's a very fun show.

I think I've pretty much decided to leave Heroes behind after this series -- there were good moments, most of which involved Noah Bennett and/or Angela Petrelli, but most of this last series was less than stellar.

::crosses fingers for Dollhouse:: Dammit, it's just getting good! And I've been meaning to watch SCC for ages now, but want to start at the beginning.

Although I have to ask -- I finished the first series of Supernatural, and thought it was reasonably good, but haven't really gone back since. Is it worth going back and catching up?

If I may randomly interject, I'd say Supernatural season 1 is the weakest of the seasons, and it does improve with time. I feel it was inconsistent in S2 and more fun in S3, so...if you have the time and patience, and you're not looking for Utter Greatness, then yeah, it's worth it!

Oh I enjoyed reading this. I've already given up Heroes and Dollhouse so I'm not at all emotionally invested in them. And while I was sad to lose Life, I figured that was a no-brainer and it had a great finale. But I would love, love, love, love having SCC back. I don't have a lot of hope but damn - that show got so good.

And Chuck is the other show I care about and hope to see back. As for my other three - SPN, Lost, Mother - all renewed so I have no worries there. Love them all but Supernatural owns my brain.

Chuck, SCC, Lost, SPN, HIMYM?

THOSE WERE MY FIVE SHOWS!

I totally agree about Chuck and HIMYM.

My swing show of the five was Lost. I was really torn between Lost, 30 Rock, and The Office, but I went with Lost based on the fact that I generally keep more up to date with it, so I'd probably miss it more. I'd want to save all 3 though. But those are much sure-er bets.

I don't know Sunil, I think Dollhouse has become just as amazing as any of Joss's other awesome shows. It started out weaker, but so did Buffy, and I'm enjoying it MUCH more than I ever enjoyed Angel. I think the ethical implications and the layers are so fascinating, and it's honestly the show I look forward to most every week.

That being said, my psychic energy is split mostly evenly between Dollhouse and Sarah Connor Chronicles. T:SCC got so effing fantastic by the end, I will be truly sad to see it go. Unfortunately, I probably shouldn't hold my breath for either one. :(

Yeah, it was tough for me to choose, but I NEED to see how Lost ends.

I think the characters aren't as strong. I like a lot of them now, but the show's missing that Family You Make for Yourself feel that Joss's other shows have had that get you really attached to the characters. There's no family in the Dollhouse. It's definitely gotten more interesting, and I want a second season more now than I did many weeks ago, but I'd rather have other shows back much more. Also, honestly, I am tired of hearing people complain about the show, and I'd rather let Joss go make a show that's less rapetastic.

I only watch five shows out of that list, so that was easy. (My sixth would have been Supernatural, though I don't watch it.)

I know the likelihood is not really there, but I am going to be effing HEARTBROKEN if Dollhouse does not come back. IT IS GETTING SO GODDAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! And I think the premise required a slow start, because you need to BUILD to this shit man, and now it's so interesting!!!! Gah.

Chuck really needs to come back too. The goofy! The funny! I love it.

Everything else I'm not so worried about. And I also proxy-voted for SCC because you love it, and because I *want* to watch it soon. Haha.

Hee. Well, you'll have all summer.

Dollhouse is definitely getting really interesting. I'm not sure it's sustainable as a long-term series, though, and I still don't give a flip about Echo.

But I actually feel better about getting the DVDs now, when before I felt like I only would have gotten them out of loyalty to Joss.

God, I haven't been watching, like, anything. Damn lack of time. I have yet to watch the last episode of HIMYM, the last few of TSCC, most of The Office, and none of Dollhouse, Fringe, Party Down, or Cupid. Yeesh. But I am finally catching up on BSG!

I am into randomly interjecting today, but...you should totally catch up on Dollhouse via hulu.com, because the internet tells me those numbers count toward renewal...and it has gotten really good! The first 4 or 5 episodes aren't great, because those are the ones FOX fucked with, but if you are patient (or willing to skip - I'd recommend watching ep. 1, then 5 onward if you do that) I think you'll like it. That and I am a Dollhouse evangelist and want people to catch up before it's too late ;)

Actually, it was Fedak who said you'd burn down your living room not Schwartz. I'm not a big fan of the game changer either. However, these writers have earned my trust (though I do wish they'd let some of their stories play out a little more) and I love Chuck. It is the one and only show that has me stressed this Upfront season.

I have to say I am not feeling the Reaper love as much as you are. I've watched every episode this season but I've only really enjoyed a few of them. Or maybe I've already forced myself to disconnect from it? Knowing the showrunners have made deals elsewhere and Sock has signed on to something else make it hard to have any hope that it'll return.

The only thing I'm worried about with The CW and Supernartural is them deciding they don't want it to end next season. But I don't see Jensen and Jared signing on for anymore seasons if Kripke's not involved so I'm fairly certain they're going to deliver a kick-ass last season.

Your poll was hard and I surprised myself by going with The Office over Fringe as my final pick. Another season and that might be different but I've had too long to get attached to Jim, Pam, and Michael. I don't feel nearly as invested in Olivia, Peter, and Walter. Although... last night's episode was pretty damn good and the last 10 minutes got me a lot further in that sense than the rest of the season has.

Yeah, I think my "How Much I Want It Back" level is affected by knowing it's not coming back. And I keep meaning to write something up about it for the blog! I think it's been pretty enjoyable and really funny. They actually gave Ben a decent plotline!

That's true. Neither one of them made my Five (it was hard!!), but Fringe was the runner-up. I have more of an attachment to dramas and their continuing stories than I do to comedies.

Although... last night's episode was pretty damn good and the last 10 minutes got me a lot further in that sense than the rest of the season has.
That was a crazy last 10 minutes. I kept thinking the episode was already over, and then it kept going, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for what OMG CLIFFHANGER shit was in store for the actual end of the episode.
