|01:01 am - Do You Believe Aang Can Save the World?|
Well, guys, Avatar: The Last Airbender is almost over. New episodes (well, new-ish...) all this week leading up to the two-hour series finale on Saturday. I have been meaning to make another pimping post, but it may have to wait until after the finale, which may make it more enticing a show to catch up on anyway.
Anyway, I've been going nuts about this show for over a year and a half, and I've been curious as to how much influence I've had. Was I directly responsible for your watching the show? Was my recommendation alone enough to make you check it out? Did I watch the entire show with you or let you borrow my DVDs? Or was I only partially responsible? Was I one of several voices? Maybe I was indirectly responsible, and you happen to be a grandconvert. And on that note: just how many grandconverts do I have? These are the things I wish to know.
Which of the following best describes your relationship with Avatar?
I am directly responsible for your love of the show.
I am partially responsible for your love of the show.
I am indirectly responsible for your love of the show.
I am in no way responsible for your love of the show.
You tried the show but didn't really get into it.
You haven't seen the show, but my constant mentions and fervent love have you intrigued.
You haven't seen the show, and you have no intention of doing so.
If I am responsible for your watching the show, how many people have YOU gotten to watch the show?
More than 5, really? How many?!
HOW AWESOME IS THIS FUCKING SHOW?
Mean: 9.10 Median: 10 Std. Dev 1.90
I fully expect there to be an Avatar lovefest in the comments, by the way. Please keep spoilers to a minimum, however, as I'm trying to attract new blood!
Current Mood: curious
Current Music: The Shins - Phantom Limb
That post may have my most entertaining comment threads EVER.
(OMG YOU SERIOUSLY MET THE POODLES IN MY POST. AND NOW IT SEEMS YOU KNEW THEM ALL ALONG FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME. HONEST TO GOD I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THE POODLES GOT YOU INTO AVATAR. BUT NO IT WAS MEEEEEEEEEE.)
I saw half of S1 at sainfoin_fields
's house and liked it! Except I had no time in my life for a new show. Alas.
I may swipe this poll in its entirety for the Office, except that won't cover the :::counts::: at least 7-8 offline people I got into it (and many of them bought box sets!) NBC so owes me bigtime.
Your posting and talking have made me curious but I really don't know how to sample it.
And it took me about one full minute to figure out your poll because the PoV of the wording is the reverse of what I'm used to. Could just be that I'm sleepy.
EXCUSE ME, SIR, I OBJECT.
Where is the option where I can choose that I am directly responsible for YOUR love of the show?
I managed to keep zero interest in Avatar due to overexposure (which you might be partly blamed for, but not much). I might watch it in a few years or so.

And lo, I am in this encampment.
I was looking for it on the DVD stalls just the other night, actually. Hmm. Might go and have another crack this evening...
I'm so sad that it's ending!!! :(

Answer not in poll
You are directly responsible for my wanting to watch the show, and for my now digging around on our home computer network for the ones that my husband bought, watched, and put aside for me to watch (since you just reminded me again that I really want to watch them).
Re: Answer not in poll
I hope you enjoy!
you are directly responsible for Avatar's having replaced Harry Potter as my escapist fiction of choice. and I started Jonathan on it, and have hooked Jude.
in other words, love love love Avatar love. love.
I, sir, have been absolutely intrigued...and then found it nigh-damn-impossible to find the season one box set ever since I've had spare cash flow to afford such a purchase. And I look pretty much every time I hit a Rasputin's, Fry's, or other place that would tend to have such things. Eventually, I'm sure, it will just make me grumpy enough that I'll order them online, but for some reason it hasn't hit that level of need yet. Possibly because I'm in 'intrigued' but not 'in love'.

Avatar rules! I will miss my woobie, Zuko so much!!
You + the fact that my boyfriend owned Season 1 (Which burned down in the fire, by the way. Biggest loss? Yes, I think so. ESPECIALLY since he never rewatches old DVDs and I told him to just let me keep them here, but he stole them and a week later they were lost forever. GOD.) meant that I decided to watch Season 1. Then Netflix let me watch Season 2. Season 3 is coming up!

You may be partially responsible for me watching it (the VM4 convos, and links to online watching while bored at work are directly responsible, and you were a large part of that) but I credit the team that makes it for my love of the show.
You and your damn semantics! I was merely trying to imply that watching = loving. And to appropriately distinguish "watching regularly" to just "trying it out."
And now you've compromised the integrity of my poll! Aw, man.

You are not responsible; someone else on the internet got Token interested and then he forced me to watch several episodes the silly show and somewhere around the cabbages I decided that the whole thing was completely awesome. And then after watching the whole first season I decided that this was the most awesomely, intricately plotted show for kids that had ever been made, and that is was worthy of great praise. And then s2 happened and it was like Joss Whedon had started writing the thing (in a good way!) and it was EVEN BETTER, and we were both wrecked by the end of the season, and we haven't dared start watching s3 because we were terrified of ending up in another insanely long wait between episodes with another damn cliffhanger, so we are currently sitting on a large stash of episodes, poised to begin watching. OMG.
Er... actually, if the series finale is Saturday, we'd probably better start watching the whole thing the minute we get home so that we'll be caught up in time, right?
YES. Experience the awesome end with the rest of us!
