|03:46 pm - I Want YOU to Buy More Ribbons|
On Saturday, I moved into my own apartment. That, in and of itself, is enough upheaval and excitement for one week.
Today, I have, finally, been made an offer to be a full-time employee as Medical Writer, Drug Safety. I've been assured this would happen for the past two months, but it's nice to see it in writing. This company has never had its own in-house medical writer. My work is revolutionary! As an employee, I would make a little bit more than I've been making as an intern, and I would get all kinds of crazy benefits like the mystifying stock options and the surreptitious free counseling. Unfortunately, however, because I would be transferring departments, I would have to move to the other side of the building, away from all my favorite co-workers. It makes me very sad. You have no idea. Yes, it's a thirty-second walk at most, but that's not the point. This is a pretty sweet location, dammit. I guess it's just as well I never got around to decorating this place.
I have until the end of the week to accept the offer. It's a tough decision, though. I mean, do I really want health insurance and vacation days?

Ooh! My parents have been wanting me to get married lately!
Vacations are fun. I say go for it! :)
Congratulations. That's great news.
Accept the job immediately, or I write a long, informative letter to your mother.
They're going to want me to negotiate for a higher salary. You just watch. And I will be all IT'S MY FIRST REAL JOB AND I BARELY HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE AND NO GODDAMN RIGHT TO DO SUCH A THING and they will be all, "Whatever, you are a failure as a person."
You should work out a complicated cost/benefit anaylsis, maybe write a pros and cons list...... and then go with what your heart tells, Sunil. It will lead you true. *nods head*
NEGOTIATE FOR A BETTER SALARY.
Also, YAY!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!
Dude, it's awesome that you're making more full-time than you were before. I make 8 dollars less an hour than I did freelancing. Bah. But I still wouldn't sacrifice the tiny bit of security I have to freelance again.
PS and now that I've read my self-absorbed comment (twice, because I'm self-absorbed), I have to add, congratulations!!
Health insurance is for the weak!
And people who aren't me.
Don't you wish you were ME, Cow? Don't answer that, I wouldn't want you to get embarrased.

Getting paid to take days off is not cool. I can't believe you're even considering accepting this offer.
It seems against the natural order of the universe!
When I am filthy rich, I am going to have my own in-house medical writer. Because people will need to know about the health benefits of being Alanna. The FDA will not be defied, man.
Congrats, Sunil. Full-time work! Benefits! These things are useful.
Health insurance and vacation days? Pfft. Who cares about that when you've got an ATTIC.
A Jedi craves not these things!

Congrats. Do you have things like internet yet? You know, the basics.
Benefits are nice. Raises are nicer.
I'm going to have a bitch of a time getting Internet because my cable modem is coming in the mail tomorrow, supposedly, but UPS can't get past the gate, so you have to be there to pick up your shit.
I'm psyched for you about the apartment.
And I'd say health insurance and vacation days are pretty important.
