I want to be wildly enthusiastic about Homeland, because DAMIAN LEWIS! I thought he wasn't coming back to U.S. TV for ages! And Mandy Patinkin is in it, too! But on the other hand, the premise of the show is annoying - what a shocker, given that it's a terrorism story by 24 producers - and furthermore makes it seem about 99% likely that I won't like Lewis' character. :(

I can't believe you're even considering dropping Community or Parks and Rec. You've only just picked them up!

Also, I'm always kind of surprised to learn that you don't watch a show. I guess I just assume that you watch everything.

Ha, I am not ACTUALLY considering dropping them at all, but I thought I'd at least offer the option, for kicks. The only shows I'm seriously considering dropping are The Walking Dead, The Office, and Supernatural. The only one I will likely follow through on is Supernatural. Probably.

I did drop Weeds, though! I was totally going to catch up and then I realized I would never actually make the time for it.

Also, I'm always kind of surprised to learn that you don't watch a show. I guess I just assume that you watch everything.
Heh. I was actually surprised how small my list of shows I'm watching is. It feels like more! I think because they're so concentrated on specific days.

Yes even I am advocating you drop Supernatural. The times - how they have changed!

It's barely the same show anymore. I guess I'm still mostly enjoying it, but...whatever?

Oh, any shows I would "pick up," I would have to catch up on, obvs! No spoilers! Especially something like The Good Wife.

I feel like I am one of the few people still enjoying The Office.

You cannot drop CHUCK during their final season. Just . . . no.

Nikita's first season wound up being really good after a lackluster start and some uneven patches, and I'm looking forward to the second season. (I might even have bought the DVDs if the picture on the box didn't look like a gorram porno that I'd be embarassed to be seen with.) If you like shows with gunfights, badass fight choreography and spy-vs-spy intrigue, you should consider giving it a try.

Other than that I don't really know much about any of the shows in question. (Except that the fact that Brannon Braga is one of the executive producers of Terra Nova makes me want to stay far, far away from it. That guy is a hack.)

I've heard some good things about Nikita, and I know one of the writers, and I DO like all those things! So many shows...

In other news, hey, you!

The ones I'm definitely checking out are Terra Nova, American Horror Story, and Person of Interest. I haven't heard good things about Ringer, even though it is winning the poll for obvious reasons!

Don't you have a birthday today or something? Happy birthday!

Of the returning shows you asked about, I do watch and usually enjoy Parenthood (strong ensemble cast, but the characters do a lot of stupid things), and I watch The Big Bang Theory only out of momentum (I enjoy the humor when it is based on nerd stereotypes, but recently there have been more ethnic stereotypes and the show overall has seemed to lack focus.), but those are my shows that I would most likely drop if I had to...I certainly would keep Chuck and NBC's Thursday night lineup over them.

Supernatural is the only show I have ever dropped, ever. I have a thing about completion bonuses, so I finish pretty much everything I start, but just, no.

I have to recommend The Mentalist, even though I bet I'll be the only one. It's so good! It's a procedural, and predictable and silly, but all of the characters are delightful, and I love spending time with all of them on my screen. And Wayne Rigsby is my TV boyfriend. I am currently powering my way through the most recent season, and I enjoy it more and more with every episode.

I've enjoyed the episodes of The Mentalist I've seen! And Grace Van Pelt is crazy pretty.

I seek completion bonuses too, but I've been dropping shows over the last several years and...been okay with it, oddly enough.

Can't help you with returning shows, as I don't watch any of the ones you're thinking of picking up, and Fringe is the only one of the possible dropped shows.(My view of dropping Fringe? Oh, hell no!)

I'm going to give Grimm and Once Upon a Time a shot, and Gary's going to try Terra Nova.("there are dinosaurs, and they eat people!" :))

I hardly watch any tv anymore, but I may check out Ringer for old times sake. I bet I'd like Fringe, though. Maybe I'll give it a try. Happy Birthday!!!

I don't get Showtime, so Homeland is out. I definitely wouldn't check out Prime Suspect, much as I like Maria Bello; this looks like just another generic remake of a classic British show (which is a little dated but still very good). I will definitely give Pan Am a try (I'm on an espionage fiction/film kick), and even though I've heard it's akin to watching a train wreck, I might give Ringer a try for curiosity's sake.

The (slightly edited) Homeland pilot is available for viewing here, if you'd like to get your fall season started early. :)
