|08:49 am - Tonight, the Part of Companion Will Be Played by Morena Baccarin|
And the new Companion is...
She was a soothsayer in "The Fires of Pompeii"! Don't you remember her? Uh.
All right, I'm sold.
Cue the wank! Too young? Too white? Too cute? Too female? Too Scottish? Too ginger? Too not Sally Sparrow?
In other news, it is totally weird to see your childhood friend in a movie promo.

Too not Sally Sparrow?
Haha you slay me, sir!
I think I'll die of happiness if she turns out to be spunky tomboy on top of it all. And speaks with the Scottish accent.
Of course, it could turn out that she's an absolutely dreadful actress as well. But I've got a good feeling about her.
Or, I just think she's cute and it's overshadowing everything.
She is very cute. She keeps staring at me, like, hey, wanna go make out in the 17th century?
She looks absolutely adorable but I will be very put out if they make her use Received Pronunciation. Of course, Steven Moffat is Scottish, so it seems probable that she'll get to keep her own accent.
I was rooting for a man, just for a change of pace, but it's all good!
Ooh, if she keeps her own accent, he's got to get her to say "murder" at some point, right?
"playing a role held in recent years by high-profile actresses Billie Piper, Kylie Minogue, Catherine Tate and Freema Agyeman,"
Uh, one of these
things roles is not like the other...
I know!! That irked me too. Whatever, journalism.
I do feel a bit like they are younging the series down a bit, with both The Doctor and his companion looking as if they could be in high school. But as long as they stick with the dark humor and heart wrenching story lines, I think I'll be okay. Also add me to the list of people that hope she gets to use her real accent.
I sure am going to miss Tennant, though. *sniffle*
Oh, I like her! I'm happy with it!
She is absurdly cute. Other than that, I don't know a thing about her. I'm sure she will do fine. (Not that I've kept up on Doctor Who of late... has there been another season since Donna got lobotomised? I was sort of getting disappointed in it by that point.)
There hasn't been a new season, but there have been two specials, with two more to come at the end of the year before the next season premieres in 2010.

She is so super cute. I will definitely be watching to see how she is as a companion.
Hmmm, I shall hold judgment until I actually see the new Doctor and Companion in action, but my first thought was disappointment about race followed by wow, she looks young. Of course, I suppose given they've gone with a very young looking Doctor, it makes some sense. People would probably accuse Catherine Tate of being a cougar if she played opposite Matt Smith instead of David Tennant. I do hope she gets to keep her accent.
As stated above, I am holding full judgment on both her and Matt until I see them in action. I, for one, turned up my nose when the news of Catherine Tate being a companion broke. But - she smashed all of my expectations. So yeah - I'm playing the waiting game (until I get bored of it and go to play Hungry, Hungry Hippos).
That being said, she is quite the cutie - I give her at least a 7.5 on the Sally Sparrow Scale of Companion Cuteness. Which will just up 2 points if they let her be, as you said, Scottish Ace.
DW will never be what it was for me with Rose gone as she is without a doubt my favorite character be it companion or Doctor and then my heart was broken by Donna's ending, but I am more then willing to give 11 and the new companion a chance.
Wait, do you think she looks like Inara? I do not get your subject line!
She is so pretty. Hopefully they'll soon release a video of her, because I'm curious how her accent sounds.
BABY DONNA NOBLE
At least, that was my hope upon first seeing the picture. But she wouldn't be. (but two gingers in a row! it's just to make the Doctor jealous, isn't it!) I'm so happy she's Scottish though! As long as she gets to keep her accent, unlike David Tennant! SCOTTISH ACCENTS ARE THE BEST ACCENTS OF ALL THE ACCENTS. Truth fact.
Too not Sally Sparrow?
Yeah, that one. Especially considering how fond they are of casting people who have already appeared on the show!
